11 Plus Comprehension

In our opinion, comprehension is the hardest segment of the 11 Plus to tackle. Finding key information, reading between the lines, defining unseen vocabulary is challenging.

The cliché advice for people to get better at comprehension is to ‘read more’. Then a person will read twenty books, do some comprehension, and get a bad mark again. ‘Why didn’t I improve - you said to read more, and I did!’

Throw away that information - it’s fake news, well not entirely. ’Read more’ actually means can you foreshadow events from reading the first chapter? Can you infer the hidden meaning? Can you identify sentence structures and perhaps pick up new vocabulary?

The other tip which you have to conquer is PRACTICE. It goes without saying practice makes perfect, the more you infer texts and figure out what the words mean, and how the letters makes words, and words make sentences, that’s when you’ve cracked it.

We can help you with both tips and that’s with our ultimate comprehension bundle, which you need to get now (if you haven’t already).

It is jam packed with comprehension questions, ranging from inference ones to retrieval ones. Whichever ones you pick to complete, you are going to love it.

That’s all from us today - see you next week for another blog post!
